This Surah is ‘makki’ and it has 83 verses. It is written within the commentary of Majma’ul Bayan whoever recites Surah YaSin solely for in search of the pleasure of Allah (S.w.T.), all his sins might be forgiven and he will be given the reward equal to the reward of reciting the entire Qur’an 12 instances. Drinking the water during which this Surah has been dissolved cures considered one of a thousand kinds of diseases. The Holy Prophet (S) mentioned that every thing has its coronary heart and the heart of the Holy Qur’an is Surah YaSin. He (Sal Allaho Alehi Wasallam) also mentioned that if this Surah is recited in a graveyard then all punishment is lifted, for that day, from all the graves and the reciter will get the reward equal to the sum of all the good actions performed by all those who are buried in that graveyard.

It is narrated from Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (a.s.) that whoever recited this Surah in the morning might be shielded from all calamities and problems during the day and whoever recites it at night might be protected against Shaitan by seventy thousand angels. Recitation of this Surah saves one from the squeezing of the grave and its different torments. Passing the difficult levels within the hereafter will also be made straightforward for him.

The sixth Imam (a.s.) also said that consuming this Surah after writing it in a mix of rose water and saffron for seven days (it must be written once for every day) makes an individual have such a good reminiscence that he will never forget what he hears. He will win debates and will gain great respect and standing. If given to a lady, her breast-milk will improve.

Keeping this Surah in one’s possession as a talisman acts as a protection from the jealousy of individuals. The wearer stays protected from the evil designs of males and Jinn. It also acts as a treatment from disease.
