Strobe light source can be utilized to measure rotation speed of various equipment parts (e.g. shafts, pulleys, spindles and so forth.). When the frequency of strobe mild equals to the rotation frequency of the measured half human eye (actually brain) perceives the picture of the rotating part as stationary (not rotating) - lets call this phenomenon as perceived cease. Maximum strobe frequency depends on your phone. On my take a look at phones I was able to get 40 Hz with good frequency stability ( -2%) and 60Hz with bigger errors. On your telephone it might be worse or higher. The newer and extra highly effective the telephone is - the higher shall be strobe frequency and stability.

Usage:

1. Turn strobe ON by pressing the corresponding button.

2. Point flashing light in the direction of rotating part which RPM you need to measure.

3. Move the slider slowly from left to proper and look forward to perceived rotation cease of the observed part.

4. Then utilizing increment and decrement buttons tune strobe frequency precisely to acquire good perceived cease of the rotation. Observed half should have a number of periodic components e.g. 3 jaws in a chuck or several bolts on a flange. Those periodic elements will produce observed rotation cease effect.

RPM - reveals the RPM worth comparable to the current strobe frequency .

Flash length - allows to control time when flash is on in each strobe cycle. It is beneficial to use fastest settings. This will give extra centered image of perceived stop. On some telephones Fastest setting doesn't work - the flash doesn't turn on in each cycle or doesn't deliver sufficient brightness. In this case please use 2 ms or 5 ms settings.
